3. How to Install

Please follow the steps below to install the Palm™ Desktop 4.1 for CLIÉ Software Alarm Manager Update on your computer.

During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
Make sure that Palm™ Desktop 4.1 for CLIÉ™ software is installed on your PC from the installation CD-ROM supplied with your CLIÉ™ handheld
Confirm that the computer is configured to be able to perform a HotSync® operation. (For the detailed information about HotSync, refer to the CLIÉ™ handheld's Read First Manual.)
To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.

Then:

Download the PDT41ALARMPATCH.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the PDT41ALARMPATCH.EXE file to begin the installation.
At the "Setup" box, click OK to continue.
At the "Complete" box, click OK.

The installation of the Palm Desktop 4.1 for CLIÉ Alarm Manager Update is complete.

4. Known Issues

The Palm™ Desktop for CLIÉ software 4.1 Alarm Manager shortcut on the Windows desktop does not disappear when the Palm™ Desktop 4.1 for CLIÉ software is uninstalled. To get the shortcut to disappear when the Palm™ Desktop 4.1 for CLIÉ software is uninstalled, you need to set the Alarm option of the Palm™ Desktop for CLIÉ software 4.1 to disabled before going through the uninstall process. Please follow the steps below.

Start the Palm™ Desktop for CLIÉ software.
From the Palm Desktop menubar, click Tools, and then click Options.
At the "Options" window, click the Alarms tab.
Click to select the "Disabled" and click OK.
Close the Palm™ Desktop for CLIÉ software. You may now proceed with the uninstall process.
