2. Description

MsaLib is the library that retrieves information from Audio files stored on the MemoryStick inserted in your CLIÉ Handheld. it also provides playback music information to applications.

This update program (Version 2.5) resolves the following issue:

• Sometimes a [Fatal error] occurs while using a MemoryStick which has recorded more then two album information titles used in the MsaLib retrieval.

Album Information titles include Title, Artist, Category and Notes.

This issue may occur when using the MemoryStick which has been checked out by software or devices which are able to record more than two album information titles - e.g. Title and Artist.

Important Notes:

• Make sure that you have installed the Palm Desktop for CLIÉ software on your computer from the installation CD-ROM supplied with your CLIÉ handheld.

• Make sure your computer is configured to perform HotSync® operations - For the detailed information about HotSync, refer to the CLIÉ Read This First manual or view one of our on-line tutorials.)

• This update application requires that you have approximately 105KB of available memory on your CLIÉ handheld. Before installing this application, confirm that there is enough memory available.

  To check the available memory in your CLIÉ Handheld:

1. Tap Home.
2. Tap Menu.
3. Tap Size at the bottom of the screen.

3. How to Install

1. Download the MsaLibUpdate25.prc file and store it on your computer.
2. Once the download is complete, double-click the MsaLibUpdate25.prc file.
3. On your computer, launch the Palm Desktop® software for CLIÉ Handheld.
4. Click the Install icon.
5. At Install Tool window, select a username from the user list.
6. Click Add....
7. Browse to the location where you have saved the update file - Select the MsaLibUpdate25.prc file and then click Open.
8. Click Done - The update module will be installed at the next HotSync operation.
9. Place your CLIÉ handheld in the cradle and press the HotSync button. The HotSync operation is performed and the required update files are installed. 
10. For more detailed information about HotSync, please refer to the CLIÉ Handheld operating instructions.
11. The message Please reset your CLIÉ by tapping DOWN button is displayed on the screen.
    Reset your CLIÉ handheld by tapping the reset (DOWN) button.
    After your CLIÉ handheld starts, it should be reset again.
12. Now the installed updated module is available.

NOTE: When you installed this update module by MemoryStick, make sure to perform soft reset on your CLIÉ after the installation.

4. Confirming successful installation

On your CLIÉ handheld:

1. Tap Home on your CLIÉ handheld.
2. Tap the Menu icon and select App -> Info.... All internal data is displayed.
3. Select version on the bottom of the screen. The software version for each item is displayed.
4. Scroll the list and confirm that the MsaLib file is version 2.5.
5. Tap Home to exit.
